|It would be nice if we could wrap up a bad situation, in a nice little package,|
exactly when we want to,
but that is not always possible.
But How Do We Deal With It?
It happens to everyone at some point or another. Whether through poor choices on your part, the timing of a growth experience or simply being caught in the crossfire of someone else's life path, eventually we all find ourselves in a difficult situation that we can't just get up and leave.
It is frustrating. Perhaps a job has taken a turn you didn't expect and you find yourself having to stay until you can find something else. Maybe your relationship has run its course, but neither one of you can afford to move yet. Or you have to deal with an aging parent whose behavior has regressed due to medications or dimentia. I could go on and on, but I want to acknowledge that sometimes we end up in bad situations that we can't just walk away from.
The good news is, eventually you will be able to move on from it. In the meantime, what is the best way to accomodate this situation's presence in your life and still be able to do what's necessary to move on? Only one thing: Understand that this is the time to be gentle and kind to yourself. Find healthy coping mechanisms to deal with negative treatment and other stresses. Pamper yourself and care for yourself.
- Find someone to do a 15 min neck, shoulder and back massage. It is usually very economical compared to a full body massage.
- Get a pedicure. Pedicures in massage chairs are also, usually cheaper than a full body massage
- Take a weekend in a Jacuzzi room at an out of town hotel and escape. Or simply...
- Take plenty of hot baths.
- Stay away from fast foods and junk foods.
- Take lots of walks or workout.
- Get plenty of rest.
- Center yourself every day.
Remember the amazing Personal Growth that is going to come from walking through this uneasiness. Do what you can to stand outside the stress and learn from each moment. The best way I know to do that is to practice what I preach in my eBook Take Charge of Your Stress. Don't worry so much about the time management and simplifying aspects, but focus on the Little Things. This way you can do what you can to elevate the energy of the difficulties to experiences of growth and learning.
The most important thing you can do, once you have tended to your Self is to let the situation go. Consciously take time each day to mentally and emotionally release the situation to the Universe. Spend as much time as you can, feeling like everything is taken care of and you are well. You will be amazed at what only 5 minutes a day can do to get all you need from the bad situation.
